JSC Becomes Smart Cities Barometer in Vietnam

Jakarta Smart City (JSC) under the Jakarta Communication, Information and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) is a barometer of smart city implementation in Vietnam.

We're proud of this mandate

It is proven by the choice of BLUD JSC Head, Yudhistira Nugraha, as the keynote speaker and panelist at the Vietnam - Asia Smart City Summit 2023 with the theme, "Data Exploitation, Building Smart Sustainable Development Cities" in Hanoi, Vietnam, November 29-30, 2023.

Jakarta Diskominfotik's JSC BLUD Head, Yudhistira Nugraha delivered a presentation entitled, "Smart Cities and Digital Transformation: The Experiences of Building Smart Cities by the Indonesian Government, Insights from Jakarta" online.

The activity presented several speakers attended, namely Information and Communication Vice Minister, Nguyen Huy Dung; Hanoi People's Committee Vice President, Ha Minh Hai; and Founding Council VINASA Member, Nguyen Nhat Quang.

"We're proud of this mandate, as Jakarta is the only city government from a major country in Southeast Asia invited to share experiences regarding the implementation of smart cities. In the presentation, we discussed smart city policies and the exploitation of using data in building smart cities effectively," he expressed, in his written statement received by Beritajakarta.id, Friday (12/1).

According to him, JSC was happy to be invited to attend this activity which aims to increase cooperation in building and developing smart city ecosystems, both in cities and provinces in Vietnam.

"Moreover, the city of Jakarta has been proven to manage the city using a science and technology approach. A smart city is a must in Jakarta because it contributes 17 percent of national GDP, 25 percent of the Greater Jakarta area's contribution to national GDP," he explained.

With this complexity, the Jakarta Government should take a smart system approach, namely sensing, understanding, and acting. One of them was by building public trust through Citizen Relations Management (CRM), or also often called Quick Community Response.

"We provide 13 official channels of public communication to the government for detection, analysis, and subsequent action through a data-based problem-solving approach. Until today, around 240,000 public complaint reports have been handled up to 98 percent," he explained.

He went on to say that CRM, which is supported by one of residents' favorite channels, namely the JakLapor resident complaint feature on the Jakarta Kini (Jaki) super application, has made the resident reporting process more efficient, namely from more than 1 day to 2-3 minutes, the average problem resolution from 2 weeks to 1 day, and the success rate for handling reports from 55 percent to more than 90 percent.

JSC is also actively building an evidence-based culture and data-driven public policy. That is the process of making important decisions refers to a series of statistical data, trends, and relevant facts. This comes from internal government data such as population data and other attributes, as well as external data including social media and citizen reports.

"These methods have enabled us to present government, society, and the economy digitally on one platform through the Jaki super application. Including the adoption of artificial intelligence in handling flood problems in Jakarta, a joint innovation space at the Jakarta Future City Hub, to the dissemination of digital literacy to schools as well as talent development and a digital startup ecosystem," he added.

Vietnam - Asia Smart City Summit 2023 is also part of the follow-up to the visit of the Vietnamese delegation to Jakarta, on September 6, 2023 at the ASEAN Summit 2023. Then the Asia Smart City 2023 was initiated by the Vietnam Software & IT Services Association (VINASA), Hanoi Depkominfo, and Hanoi People's Committee with activities centered at The National Conference Center, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi.
